Filmy touch to Swachh Bharat
Taking Narendra Modi’s ambitious programme Swachh Bharat a step forward, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu intends to give a filmy touch to it by recommending a few celebrities from Tollywood besides other rich and famous from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Hyderabad: Taking Narendra Modi’s ambitious programme Swachh Bharat a step forward, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu intends to give a filmy touch to it by recommending a few celebrities from Tollywood besides other rich and famous from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Venkaiah Naidu is expected to nominate nine Swachh Bharat ambassadors each from two Telugu States who he had hand-picked. To increase the celebrity quotient, Naidu listed power star Pawan Kalyan along with S P Balasubramaniam, Nitin, Suddala Ashok Teja and Amala Akkineni as ambassadors. Others who are expected to be announced on Monday by the Union minister are K Kavita and Galla Jayadev (MPs), VVS Lakshman, Shivlal Yadav, Pullela Gopichand and Koneru Humpy (Sportspersons), B V R Mohan Reddy, J A Chowdary, J Rameswara Rao and G V K Reddy (Industry), Dr Gopi Chand and Dr G S Rao (Medicine) and Vemuri Radhakrishna (Media).
Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, who will be taking part in the face-to-face with municipal commissioners, will unveil his list of Swachh Bharat ambassadors.
The mix of ambassadors has huge popularity and would give an impetus to the Prime Minister’s pet programme.
Narendra Modi, who believes that development and good governance are the only ways ahead, stresses on people’s participation in campaigns taken up by the government. To ensure such participation, Modi is drawing prominent people into the campaign right from Big B Amitabh Bachchan to ‘Dabawallas’ of Mumbai. Recently when he visited his his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi as part of nation-wide Good Governance Day celebrations being held by his government, he said, "I nominate Kiran Bedi, Sourav Ganguly, Kapil Sharma, Sonal Mansingh, Aroon Purie. I also nominate Ramoji Rao and Eenadu Group for Swachata Abhiyan."
