The satellite rights of Anushka Shetty-starrer ‘Rudhramadevi’ have been sold for a bomb. It is reliably learnt that a leading entertainment channel has spent Rs 8.5 crore for the television rights of the Rs 70 crore period drama that also sees Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati in key roles.

The price is the highest for a film that sees no male A-lister in the leading role. Even ‘Manam’ which had the likes of Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya and Samantha in lead roles was sold for Rs 7 crore while NTR’s ‘Temper’ was brought by a channel for Rs 7.8 crore.
A source points out, “The astronomical amount is due to the fact the film stars Anushka and is riding high on expectations. Another reason is attributed to Allu Arjun.
Though his outing as Gona Ganna Reddy is limited to 20 minutes, his presence is enough to attract advertisers.” We’ve also learnt that audio rights have fetched director Gunasekhar a decent price. “Lahari has acquired the music rights for a monstrous Rs 50 lakh.
It’s an Ilaiyaraaja musical, a factor that should be enough for the audio company to consider the deal without any second thoughts,” adds the source. Meanwhile, we also hear the team is planning to unveil the audio in Warangal, the capital of the erstwhile Kakatiya Empire, soon.
“Kakatiya University has been chosen as the venue to host the audio launch but Guna’s team is working round the clock to ensure that all logistics are sorted out.” Currently in post production, ‘Rudhramadevi’ is expected to hit the screens in March-end or April.
