Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend

Similarly, I look for the gutter markers, politely I call them the lower bench markers, just finished this torture called ‘Dilli Waali Zaalim Girl Friend’ (DZGF). Two weeks ago I saw ‘Dirty Politics’ and was convinced that it will be difficult to beat that gutter diamond from KC Bokadia and now comes DZGF from Japinder Kaur. KC Bokadia you have serious competition from Japinder. One does feel sorry for Ponty Chadhdha, both these gems are produced from his, I presume, hard earned money.

To those of you who are not aware Ponty died more than two years ago .So maybe the director had no one watching over and the result is DZGF. First, a special word of respect for the casting director for casting Jackie Shroff as a Delhi-based business man Minocha.

Now anyone who knows this about Jaggu will tell you that Jackie can probably walk on his hands for 15 days but cannot leave his Mumbai accent for more than 15 seconds, so he tries speaking BC every two minutes in the movie because that one word is 50 per cent Delhi vocabulary, but then you get a supposedly Delhibred businessman Minocha played by Jackie who is supposed to be a Punjabi and speaks with a Mumbai bheedu-chaap accent. Brilliant! To be fair, the director had a good plot idea in mind but to implement, she forgot to have a story writer and screenplay writer.

Actually the movie has a simple plot. The hero gets conned first by the girl he is smitten by. Then he is conned by a car thieves’ boss.

He plans a revenge, interesting premise so far. Problem is the thriller aspect in this movie is about 10 times less than Enid Blyton’s Famous Five. let me tell you, as long as you were a teenager Enid Blyton was not boring or shallow. DZGF is. The movie starts as another love story transforms or tries to transform itself into a thriller and then becomes an absolute confusing nothing. Here is another indicator of the total lack of common sense of the director and screenplay writer-the actual zaalim girlfriend is practically non-existent in the movie.

It is more like Ramesh Sippy calling his magnum opus as Imam of Ramgarh instead of ‘Sholay’. Watch DZGF and your respect for the B-grade potboiler makers will increase. Their movies, actors, story, songs, etc are all towards customer satisfaction. They have better common sense than these multiplex brand of cinema makers. One of the key components of this movie is cameras and sting operations. The only person who feels ‘stinged’ in the end is the one who is watching it. You want to watch good guys getting duped and then settling scores go, watch ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla.
