Here’s why ‘KKI’ got postponed. Since it was a pure love story I felt background score was lacking the required depth and thus I asked my team to re-work on it. It caused the delay.

Dismissing reports that his film ‘Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini’ (KKI), a remake of Kannada hit ‘Charminar’, has failed to attract good business, thereby failing to meet the release date in March this year, producer Lagadapati Sridhar says, “I was not happy with the re-recording of the film.

Still from 'KKI'

Since it was a pure love story I felt background score was lacking the required depth and thus I asked my team to re-work on it. It caused the delay.” He adds, “Moreover filmmaking is not a business option for me. I will sell my film to people who I like and respect. PVR Cinemas is distributing it in Nizam.”

Speaking about the film which is set in the backdrop of Krishna River, he says, “It will give an experience like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ and will stay in your hearts for a long time. “ The producer has recently snatched the Telugu remake rights of Tamil hit ‘Goli Soda’.

Ask him why he is more into the remaking culture, he says, “I’m not coming across good stories. Moreover if you want to approach a star, besides a star director, a proven subject is the required criteria.” He also assures that his project with Tamil maker N Lingusamy is very much on.

“He is currently occupied with a Vishal film. He will be free after January and yes, he is committed to make a film for me.” Starring Sudheer Babu and Nanditha in the lead roles, ‘KKI’, a directorial venture of R Chandru, will open in cinemas next Friday.
