NandithaActress Nanditha, who is playing the leading lady in ‘Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini’ (KKI), a remake of Kannada box-office smash ‘Charminar’, says she gave the role her own makeover. “I gave it my own touch. In the original, the leading lady was portrayed in a de-glamourised avatar whereas in ‘KKI’ I will look like a girl-next-door.

Nonetheless, it’s peppered with a tinge of glamour,” she smiles. The actress insists that though the film is a remake, it is told in a way that it looks completely original. “Though the basic premise is same, the screenplay and the way it was narrated will never you give a sense that it is a remake.”

The actress, who burst on to the scene with ‘Neeku Naaku’ three years ago, will be seen alongside Nikhil in ‘Shankarabaranam’ up next. Ask her whether life has changed after becoming an actor, she replies nonchalantly, “Not really. It’s just that I’m getting to work more and people are recognising me. I lead a very normal life. I’m still studying and if I’m not into shooting, I stay indoors mostly.”

She admits to being wiser now though. “To survive in the industry without a Godfather is not easy. You will have to face obstacles and you will have to deal with different kinds of people. I learned to cope with such situations step by step. In the beginning I found such situations very bizarre.”

She adds, “It takes s a lot of time to reach where you imagined in the industry when you do not have a Godfather. Say if you have ‘one’ you will reach the desired place quickly because he will direct you with right choices.” The actress is happy with the way her career is progressing. “I’m happy but I’d prefer to have a mix of ups and downs rather than just ups.”
