Actress Regina Cassandra believes that most girls will identify with her character of Seetha in director Hairsh Shankar’s Subrahmanyam For Sale’. “She is innocent but hides it so that people will not take her for a ride.
There’s another angle where she is portrayed as someone who is affected by social media and I’m sure girls of these days will relate to it,” she shares, while adding that the film, which is scheduled to release this Friday, is a typical “Harish Shankar entertainer laced with family emotions.”

About the film’s plot, she says, “Sai Dharam (lead character) lands in the US to earn money and he deals everything in money. He even tells me that he will solve my problem but I need to pay him.” The actress insists that it took a lot of effort to look ultra-glamorous in the film.

“In the beginning of my career I never understood what it takes to be a glamorous heroine but now I realised the hard work that actresses put in,” she smiles. She adds as an after- thought, “I’m not a glamorous person in real life. I’m like a simple tea shirt and a pair of jeans girl. To get out of your comfort zone and go for a makeover, it was an exciting proposition I’m happy with the change.”

A major chunk of the film was shot in the US and describing the experience, she says, “It was a totally different experience as the sun used to set at around seven and eight in the evening. The whole cast and crew used to travel in one bus to reach the location; so you can imagine the amount of fun we’ve indulged in. We shot on the roads of New York and Times Square. Guvva Gorinka number was shot at Grand Canyon and though it was pretty hot, it was an experience of a lifetime. “ She also found out why an actor’s job is not easy while shooting for a sequence at Exchange Place, New Jersey.

“We were shooting near a river in the night. It was 5 degrees. I had to reel an emotional dialogue addressing Brahmanandam sir and Sai Dharam but I couldn’t despite repeated takes. The weather got to me. I took 34 takes to get the scene right. The dialogue just refused to happen,” she recalls, adding, “I never experienced something like it till then.

The scene still haunts me. The moment I got it right and Harish said cut, I started crying. After the scene I was like, ‘Can I act anymore.’”
