The resounding success of short film ‘I Hate You’ gave producer Praveen Sagi the confidence to invest in horror thriller ‘O Sthree Repu Raa,’ his first feature. Also, he also points out, his acquaintance with his director Ashok Reddy helped.

“We were employed with different IT firms in Hyderabad and its movies that brought us together. When Askok discussed the idea of ‘O Sthree Repu Raa’ with me, I took a strong liking to it and decided to invest in it,” he shares.

A real life incident in Rayalaseema in 1980s triggered Ashok to design the film, he insists. “We’ve heard a strange story of a girl visiting every household after her death.

The frightened villagers, in order to avoid the ghost visiting their houses, painted their walls with a phrase O Sthree Repu Raa. Ashok conceived an idea around it and woven an edge-of-the-seat drama. Diksha Panth plays the girl who is on a mission to find out what lead to the death of the ghost (Shruti Mole).”

Made on a budget of Rs 1.5 crore and shot in Hyderabad and Madanapalle, the film will be opening in over 100 theatres across the two-Telugu speaking states this Friday.
