New Delhi:Heavy metal acts in the country have a chance to showcase their talent at the international level with G-Shock Wacken Metal Battle, backed by Casio India Private Limited.

To promote the best of metal music bands of the country and bring life to the genre in India, G-Shock has initiated Wacken Metal Battle in collaboration with open air heavy metal festival Bangalore Open Air 2016 in eight metropolitan cities, read a statement.

In its pursuit to hunt for the best of heavy metal in the country, G-Shock Wacken Metal Battle has travelled to heavy metal loving cities like Guwahati, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad.

The shortlisted bands include Godia, Gaia's Throne, Corpulent Deformity, Vidyut, Jammers Graveyard, Rectified Spirit, Godless and Kryptos. The winner of the battle will be titled as the G-Shock Band of the Year.

The Wacken Metal Battle will reach out to Indian headbangers via eight pre-gigs. The final leg of the battle of the bands is scheduled for Friday at Bengaluru.

The winner of the competition will be announced on the main leg of the Bangalore Open Air festival on Saturday.

This year, Bangalore Open Air will feature international acts like the Polish death/thrash band Vader, Swedish melodic metal group Soilwork, Canadian band Skull Fist and Egyptian-American band Nader Sadek along with Indian metal bands.
