Abhishek Jawakar, director of crime thriller “Missing on a weekend,” seeks legal route to get his film certified in the face of delay from CBFC

Missing on a Weekend is a crime drama about a group of friends on a weekend getaway who go missing in the backdrop of a festering crime rate in Goa. The release date of this film appears to be hazy as Jawkar has sent a legal notice to CBFC for not yet issuing the certificate. After the preview of the film, CBFC issued only a verbal diktat to cut 50 scenes but there was no accompanying certificate. Despite repeated followups about the certification, CBFC has remained unresponsive. To make matters worse, Goa Tourism Board also felt piqued by the film and accused the director of portraying Goa shabbily at a time when the Board was doing its best to boost tourism.

This unexpected turn of events has left Jawkar feeling agitated. “We have been following up repeatedly for the certificate but there has been no response. Without the certificate, I will not be able to move ahead and out of sheer desperation I finally sent a legal notice to them,” he says.
