‘Singam 3’ is based on true incidents

Keeping up with the legacy of the series, ‘Singam 3’ features Suriya playing the hot-headed cop one more time. The Hari directorial is already hitting the headlines for its teaser and never-seen-before action sequences. The superstar came to the city on Sunday to share his thoughts about the project.

“Singam 3’ is based on a few incidents that happened during the reign of NTR (in united AP) and MGR (in TN). Although the film has a Mangalore backdrop we shot mostly in Vizag,” shares Suriya, adding, “I never planned “Singam 2’ but it just happened. After ‘24’, Hari and I should have worked on another project in which I play a military officer, but somehow the film did not materialize and instead, ‘S3’ happened.” Suriya is all praises for the director.

“This is my fifth film with Hari and he’s just getting better with each day. He tried to take my character to the next level by designing tailor-made scripts. He worked eight months on the script. The film will be an entertainer in its own genre and we are confident that it’ll appeal to all age groups (like our earlier installments). It also carries its own identity with characters and people who leave lasting impact,” he reveals.

This is the fourth time Suriya is playing a cop role and ask him what’s his fascination for them? “It’s because people are loving me (smiles), and I am doing it for the sheer love of the character. Also, the experience of working on the franchise has been satisfying and my love for action films is only growing,” the actor signs off.

The action drama features Anushka Shetty and Shruti Haasan as female lead, and the film is scheduled for release on December 23.
