After blockbusters ‘Bhajrangi Bhaijan,’ and ‘Bahubali,’ famed script writer V Vijayendra Prasad is penning a period saga on the founding, rise and works of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS). The magnum opus will be made in Hindi and other languages with the support of Bharatiya Janata Party and with the blessings of PM Modi.
It will depict the struggles and sacrifices of revered Hindu leaders from Dr Hedgewar to M S Golwalkar and Savarkar to K Sudarshan to Mohan Bhagwat spanning more than eight decades.“It is true that Vijayendraprasad is discussing with BJP supremo Amit Shah on the key points to taken for the period drama. Script work is going for the Hindi film and writer is trying to squeeze in as much content as possible to make a 3-hour magnum opus,” says a source, close to the writer.
Actually, Hindu right-wing outfit was founded by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur in 1925.Hedgewar became a member of the Anushilan Samiti, an anti-British revolutionary group, getting into its inner circle.
According to the official RSS history, he came to realise that revolutionary activities alone were not enough to overthrow the British. After reading V D Savarkar’s Hindutva, Hedgewar was influenced by him and begna to strengthen the Hindu society. Later, M S Golwalkar, became the leader of the RSS in 1940, continued and further strengthened the isolation from the Independence movement.
“It will be hard-hitting and realistic movie. The writer is planning to do a lot of personal research for the script. He has already gathered enough material on RSS ideology and viewpoints of revered leaders who headed the organisation during pre and post Independence era.
After a brief lull, how the Nationalist organisation is shining bright once again post-2014. Prasad will also be visiting its headquarters in Nagpur to interact with RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Ram Madhav and other top Hindu leaders to elicit first-hand-information and pen a powerful script that would depict the rise of the organisation against various odds since some vested interests tried to ban and scuttle its rise it the last few decades,” the source adds.
Right now, ‘Bahubali’ writer is in New Delhi to meet the top brass of BJP who are reportedly funding this big budget flick.
“Initial budget estimate is over Rs 100 crore and will be hiked if required, since they want to rope in top B-town stars, director and other technicians to make a memorable film on the revered orgainsation. Top Hindi stars are expected to reprise the roles of iconic leaders like Hedgewar to Savarkar to Bhagwat in this much-awaited movie,” the source concludes.
