Tirupati: Controversial film director Ramgopal Varma (RGV) formally launched the shooting of his much-talked about film ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ with ‘real story’ as its tagline, here on Friday. “The film will be from NTR’s perspective and would reflect only facts. There would be no distortion,” RGV said. The film will be released on January 24, 2019, he said. Addressing the media-persons. Varma said: “The video of the last interview of NTR clearly discloses his feelings and opinions. I happened to watch it only after his death.”
Claiming that he was an atheist, Varma said he visited Tirupati 25 years ago for shooting “Govinda Govinda” whose plot was looting of enormous wealth of Lord Venkateswara Swami. “The film bombed at the box office probably because the Lord got angry with me. After that I had left for Mumbai and returned to the temple only now,” he said.
“As NTR was a true disciple of Lord Venkateswara, I wanted to worship the Lord before commencing the shooting of the film,” the film director said, adding that the film will reflect all the aspects of the departed leader. “Even if I claim that I have no political motives for making this film, nobody will believe it. So, I don’t want to make any claims. But, I am sure NT Rama Rao’s blessing from the heaven will be there for our Lakshmi’s NTR,” he maintained. He said Lakshmi Parvathi was a key figure in NTR’s life and as the title suggests, the movie will depict her role in it though the movie will be from NTR’s perspective.
“I have spoken to many of his associates, servants, staff, his critics and enemies to ascertain facts. He was a good natured and honest human being. He was political leader of virtue. He had a versatile personality”, Varma averred. Lakshmi Parvathi, who was present on the occasion, asked RGV to present the facts and whatever NTR has said in his life. Chairman of GV Films Balagiri, who is presenting the film, producer Rakesh Reddy, Piler MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy and GD Nellore MLA K Narayana Swamy also spoke on the occasion.
