Producer anand pandit: remixes have huge recall value

Producer of Total Dhamaal on the trend of remixing retro songs

Mumbai: Bollywood has been constantly buzzing with the recreation of classics and hit chartbusters in films. Taking the trend forward, the makers have released the recreated version of the cult Bollywood number titled ‘Mungda’ in the upcoming comedy ‘Total Dhamaal’. Anand Pandit who is one of the producers of ‘Total Dhamaal’ and also a Bollywood veteran with an astute understanding of the business of cinema says the remix numbers work.

Says Anand Pandit, “Retro songs have always had a higher recall value among listeners. The whole idea behind a remix number is to create recall of an earlier popular song and add a new contemporary element so that it appeals to millennials as well. I feel 'Mungda' is completely in that space."

‘Mungda’ which features Sonakshi Sinha and Ajay Devgn is a sizzling dance number which has been sung by Jyotica Tangri, Shaan and Subhro Ganguly and re-arranged by Gourav-Roshin with additional lyrics penned by Kunvar Juneja.

‘Total Dhamaal’ consists of an ensemble cast includes Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Javed Jaaferi, Johnny Lever and Sanjay Mishra.

Anand Pandit is a producer and distributor with a prolific list of films. Having distributed films like 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2', 'Satyameva Jayate', 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' and more recently, the Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Baazaar’ under his banner Anand Pandit Motion Pictures, the filmmaker has also produced films like ‘Sarkar 3’ and ‘Missing’.
