Mancherial: At a novel programme organized at Ram Katta Tank here on Friday, members of the Green Corps tied rakhis totrees,with the organizers calling upon people to protect trees with a sense of social responsibility.

Led by Gundeti Yogeswar and DEO office assistant director Abdul Ghani,the green brigade, mostly school students, tied rakhis made with green ribbons to the trees. Later, the members hugged the trees to mark their love forNature.Green Pledge was administered to the students by the members.

“Following the directions of the State Council of Educational Research and Training,we are organising the programme”, Yogeswar said.Abundance of trees wouldhelp reduce temperature andcontain pollution. Trees were essential for survival of human race, he said.

The members created awareness about the importance of treesamong students over, Yogeswarsaid. He appealed to the people to protect trees, as it was a social responsibility. ZP High School Headmaster A Venugopal, Green Corps members K Santhosh,SK Quthubuddin,Vamshi and students in large numbers took part in the programme.
