The accused have been identified as Boini Raju, 26, Mochi Gaddamidi Srinivas, 31, both animal keepers at Nehru Zoological Park (NZP) and Md Osman, 40, a businessman, were arrested under the supervision of Md Taher Ali, ACP, Falaknuma.
“During the interrogation, Raju and Srinivas admitted to have committed theft of six sandal wood trees from NZP, Hyderabad and cut them into pieces and some of them were sold to Md Osman for Rs 15,000 and some kept in their houses. In pursuance of their confession, cops conducted search and seized logs, axe and hand saws,” said the police.
The seized contraband has been produced before the magistrate for judicial remand.
