800 Arrested For Eve Teasing. According to officials, women commuters complained about facing harassment from male commuters who allegedly entered the ladies compartments.
Hyderabad: Taking cue from the Government Railway Police (GRP), who went all out against eve teasers few months ago, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) also launched a fresh drive against them. At least 800 persons have been arrested by the RPF for allegedly creating commotion in the ladies compartments of MMTS trains during the last three days.
In view of the sudden increase in complaints of eve teasing in MMTS trains, the railway police set up special team to curb the menace. The arrests, made on various trains passing through MMTS junctions, come under the special drive against eve-teasing.
According to officials, women commuters complained about facing harassment from male commuters who allegedly entered the ladies compartments.
“We have arrested 50 people who allegedly entered the ladies compartments and harassed women commuters today at Begumpet,” said Railway inspector Ashwini Kumar.
