(Inset)  The attacker PradeepThe victim, M Ravali (19), a resident of Ramnagar in Musheerabad, is pursuing Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) first year course at Aurora Scientific, Technological and Research Academy. The girl came to college at around 9 am in the college bus when Pradeep, who is doing a technical course at Central Institute of Tool Design, attacked her.

“Pradeep entered the college premises wearing the uniform of Aurora College. On spotting the girl in the compound, the man attacked her with a sickle on the neck and hand, resulting in serious injuries to her,” Inspector Chandrayangutta T Rama Rao said quoting eye-witnesses.

The girl was rushed to a private hospital at Attapur where doctors treating her stated that her condition was critical. Pradeep who consumed poison was admitted to another private hospital at Santoshnagar. He succumbed around 11 am.

College principal Srilatha said the security camera footage of the entire incident had been shared with the police. "In front of all our college students, bus drivers, and security guards, an unknown person came of all a sudden and attacked our B Tech 1st year student. She was grievously injured. He consumed poison. Our faculty tried to stop him but in vain," she said.

Ravali, was taken to a nearby private hospital in Aramgarh for initial treatment, was later shifted to Care Hospital in Banjara Hills. Her condition is said to be out of danger. According to eye witnesses she received three cuts on her neck.

“She was brave enough to call her father, by holding another hand on the bleeding spot,” said, one of her classmates. The boy reportedly known to her was said to be stalking her.

Pradeep was immediately rushed to hospital in the college bus. After one of the hospitals in Kanchanbagh refused to take him, he was taken to Apollo DRDO hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The hospital asked the police to pay Rs 5500. They refused and are waiting for the parents of Pradeep to arrive.

Ravali had earlier complained with the Musheerabad police against Pradeep who lived in the neighbourhood in Ramnagar. But police left him after rebuking. A case has been booked under Section 354 (assault with intent to outrage modesty) and 354 (b) (sexual harassment) of the IPC and began investigation.
