Hyderabad: The SR Nagar crime team on Friday nabbed a most-wanted house burglar and two receivers of the stolen property. Police recovered stolen property of 64 tolas of gold ornaments, 2.5 kg of silver, a cash of Rs 1 lakh, a car besides electronic goods, all worth Rs 30 lakh from their possession.

The accused identified as Avilineni Madhan Kumar, 22, hailing from Chittoor district of AP, had taken up burglary as profession since 2011. He had committed most of the burglaries during the day and was previously involved in as many as 10 house burglaries under Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerates, DCP (W) A Venkateswar Rao said adding that during interrogation, he revealed that he disposed the stolen property to a goldsmith, V Chidananda, 50, of Rahmat Nagar and a businessman, Mirza Mommin Ali Baig, 34, of Koti.

“Madan, a BTech student of Global Engineering College, Gandipet, came to the city in 2010 for studies. He had taken to stealing to fund his lavish lifestyle such as buying branded clothes and dining at expensive restaurants.

He would target houses, break the locks and steal the booty. He was previously arrested by Banjara Hills police in February 2012 and spent two months in jail. After his release, he again started committing robberies. Efforts are being made to recover another 30 tolas of gold from one Srinivas, a pawn broker of Pot Market in Secunderabad,” the DCP added.
