Warangal: The district police have arrested the main accused, Veluma Rajendra Prasad alias Ramesh, who was involved in sensational Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank (APGVB) theft case.According to police sources, Ramesh was nabbed at Ambatipalli in Karimnagar district on Thursday. He was being interrogated by the police and was expected to be produced before media in two days.

It might be recalled that the incident came to fore on November 17 on which day Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank (APGVB) Bhupalpally town branch and Azamnagar village branch being operated at Bhupalpally mandal headquarters were found looted.

The police have recovered 34 kilos of gold worth Rs 9.50 crore and cash of Rs 2 lakh on November 22 which Ramesh left at Ambatipalli. On the day, the police arrested his wife Veluma Rama Devi.

Ramesh worked as temporary messenger in the APGVB Bhaupalpalli branch. He was said to have stolen the gold and cash from the branch and also from the Azamnagar branch on November 15 around 3 pm.
