Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Cyber Crime police on Saturday arrested a person on charge of impersonating and creating fake Facebook accounts and posting objectionable comments.

Kamalla Ravi Kumar, 44, a resident of Bibinagar, Nalgonda, who was charged with abetting the offence, was arrested on Saturday. “He wanted to take revenge after he lost in workers' union election at his office,” cops said.

Based on a complaint lodged by the victims on September 19, the crime team registered a case under Section 509 of the IPC and 67 (A) of the IT Act and took up investigation. “The accused, working as a tradesman with accounts section of AP Foods, IDA Nacharam, used scanned photographs of the complainants (submitted for the issue of health cards) for posting in two fake Facebook profiles that he created,” Additional DCP (Crimes) B Srinivas Reddy said.

“Ravi Kumar, who lost to the complainants in workers' union election by a huge margin, decided to take revenge against them. He thus created false profiles on Facebook, posted their pictures and sent ‘Add Friends’ requests to employees which caused embarrassment and humiliation to the victims,” said an investigating officer with the Cyber Crime Police.
