Man arrested for impregnating daughter

Hyderabad: The Medchal police on Monday arrested a 38-year-old man on charges of raping his minor daughter for the past one year and impregnating her.

The accused, a construction labourer, was living with his wife, a maid, and two daughters.

“The accused allegedly raped his 13-year-old daughter, a class VII student in Medchal area, over a period of one year. He would threaten her with dire consequences if she revealed it to anyone,” inspector K Shashank Reddy said.

Even the school got the inkling when the victim was facing difficulty sitting on the ground.

But victim refused it by saying that she was diagnosed with a lump in her stomach. Later, the school disregarded the case as the girl stopped coming to school.

The incident came to light when the victim was taken to a hospital after she complained of nausea. Medical examination revealed that she was nine months pregnant. As it was a medico-legal case, the doctors informed the police.

The police swung into action and questioned the victim, who informed that her father was responsible for her pregnancy.

A case under section 376 (Rape) of the IPC and Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) was registered against the accused.
