Security guard beaten to death in Hyderabad
A 55-year-old security guard was beaten to death with iron rods in a college on the city outskirts in Kuntloor village under Hayathnagar police station limits allegedly by unknown miscreants late on Thursday night. The incident took place between 2 am and 3 am at Nagole Institute of Technology and Science (NITS) in Kuntloor village in Hayathnagar area. The victim, identified as Naval Kumar Singh, a native of Bihar, was on duty when the incident occurred.

The incident came to light on Friday morning, when the college authorities and locals alerted the police who rushed to spot to collect evidence. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim along with his friend, B Sakhya, a security guard by profession and a native of Assam consumed alcohol on Thursday night. Police suspect that a fight between them could have been the cause of the killing, though it is too early to draw any broad conclusion, police say.
“We are examining the CCTV footages to find the clues of the culprit’s identity,” inspector P Venkateshwarlu said adding that efforts were also being made to nab Sakhya for questioning who is absconding after the incident. A case has been registered by Hayathnagar police and further investigation is underway.
