Cop arrested for rape attempt
An Armed Reserve (AR) constable of Kadapa district, Srinivas, who reportedly tried to sexually assault a woman in Keesara mandal on Thursday was taken into custody by the police. However, the woman escaped with the help of locals and lodged a complaint with Keesara police.
Hyderabad: An Armed Reserve (AR) constable of Kadapa district, Srinivas, who reportedly tried to sexually assault a woman in Keesara mandal on Thursday was taken into custody by the police. However, the woman escaped with the help of locals and lodged a complaint with Keesara police.
According to police, Srinivas who came to Dammaiguda a couple of days ago, befriended with the woman, a resident of Damaiguda in Keesara mandal. He took her in an autorickshaw to an isolated place near to Godumakunta-Cheeryal stretch and tried to rape her. Hearing her cries, locals rushed to the spot and caught hold of the constable. After thrashing him they handed him over to the cops. The victim, along with her relatives, rushed to the Keesara police station and lodged a complaint against the constable.
