Reena was in a live-in relationship with Nalla Narendra and had been staying at Kakatiya Nagar in Neredmet area since November last year.


A complaint was filed by the victim's mother with the Neredmet police station, three days back, alleging that accused Nalla Narendra, with whom Reena was staying, had wrongfully confined her daughter in the house and had tortured her physically and mentally.


He made her drink acid forcibly and she vomiting blood soon thereafter. On Monday at around 4 am, she died at Gandhi Hospital while undergoing treatment. "It is not clear as to what has happened, but the family members allege that Narendar forced her to drink acid," DCP (Malkajgiri) Rama Rajeshwari said.


According to police, the woman, a divorcee was staying along with her parents and three-year-old son at Balaji Nagar. There are also reports that the woman was addicted to ‘drugs’. We are investigating the case from all angles," the official added. Earlier, the police registered a case under Section 344, 355, 324 and 509 of the IPC but after her death, it has been altered to 302 (murder) of the IPC and detained Narendra for questioning.
