Hyderabad: Cyberabad Crime Police on Tuesday cautioned women in the city to be careful about some tricksters who were befriending women through Facebook claiming themselves as employees of MNCs and exchanging mails with marriage proposals. The police asked them not to fall prey to the fraudsters.

The police also appealed to job aspirants to be careful about bogus advertisements and interviews. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crimes, Cyberabad, S Jayaram, said after some days, they were luring women stating that they sent a parcel containing gift article and US dollars through courier service worth several lakhs of rupees for using them in India after their marriage.

Later, the fraudsters posing as customs/courier services men were asking the victims to deposit handsome amounts in the name of customs clearance, anti-terrorist fund, RBI fee, foreign exchange amount and so on. In this fashion, the cheats were extracting huge amounts from the innocent people, he said. The ACP further stated some of the fraudsters were giving jobs advertisement on websites for various posts in IT field and gaining confidence of gullible victims.
