Beasts in Human Garb

Ever since the dawn of civilization, people have always discriminated women for reasons uncountable. Every now and then we see umpteen cases where people develop grisly attitude towards women. So many reasons can be held responsible for this degradation but the most important being the negative impacts of internet and television and of course illiteracy. In many villages, education still remains a forbidden fruit for girls.

This indifference often leads to many evils and complexes in the society. Nowadays crimes related to women are on the rise be it abductions, molestation or domestic violence. It is pathetic to see how people who make hollow claims of being educated are involved in such heinous crimes.

I am compelled to quote a personal experience here, few days back when i was having a casual discussion about women related crimes. A friend of mine mentioned an event in which she was harassed by her own cousin! The moment I heard it I had goose bumps all over my body. This speaks of the highest level of absurdity where boys turn beasts in human garb. Who is to be blamed? Girls or boys? Obviously the one who committed the crime. Gone are the days when people were made up of an ingredient of moral value within them. Now, we see that impurities have entered the minds of people.

People who treat women with no respect are a blot on society. If we see through the lens of value, women are ought to be given highest degree of respect in our religion. Islam has not changed, but surely Muslims have! Veteran Kashmiri leader once requested a Sikh leader to study Islam, the leader said, Geelani sahab it is not permissible for me to study Islam, but I will study Muslims.

People nowadays tease, and harass women which shows how weak their mentality and emaan is. It has become difficult for a girl to trust even her close aquaintances the sole reason being the degradation taking place in the society in the name of modernization.

The society needs to divest itself of such elements that lack moral moorings otherwise a day would come when a girl won't trust her own brother. These are certain points that the masculine gender needs to keep in mind while dealing with the opposites.
