Hyderabad: A notorious burglar was arrested by the Central Crime Station (CCS) police on Wednesday and recovered property worth about Rs 10 lakh including gold ornaments and gas cylinders in Hyderabad. Detective Department Joint Commissioner T Prabhakar Rao said that Habeeb Mustafa Khan alias Afzal Khan alias Dilawar (34) who works as a mechanic at Vattepally in Hyderabad was earlier arrested by the police for his involvement in 14 burglaries in Madannapet, Santhosh Nagar, Bhavani Nagar, Shamshergunj and Chandrayangutta areas.

The Joint Commissioner said that Habeeb started committing offenses when he was a minor and later associated with his brother Salman Khan alias Rehan Khan and Mohd Imran Khan alias Mahender SK Jaffar alias Sikander. He said that in December 2014, the accused and his associates burgled off property worth about Rs 3 lakh from a house in Chandrayangutta.

In 2013, they broke open a house in the same vicinity and took away property worth Rs 5.5 lakh. Later, the trio went absconding and lavishly spent about half of the stolen property, the joint CP said. The CCS police recovered gold ornaments weighing 200 grams worth about Rs 5 lakh, two gas cylinders worth Rs 5 lakh and a television. Efforts were on to nab the absconding, he added.
