Hyderabad: Nodal officer, swine flu centre, Gandhi Hospital, Dr K Narasimhulu has confirmed on Thursday that a woman who died on Saturday had swine flu.

A woman (52) from Musheerabad was admitted at Gandhi hospital with serious pneumonia around September 2. Observing the symptoms of swine flu, the doctors sent swab samples to the Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) but before the report came she died on September 5.

Dr Narasimhulu said that the swine flu nodal centre received the swine flu positive report from the IPM on Wednesday evening. Regarding the delay of IPM report, K Amarender Reddy, Director of IPM, Telangana, when contacted, did not respond to the call.

Jaggamma, a 20-year-old pregnant from Basheerabad of Ranga Reddy district who was admitted at Gandhi Hospital, delivered on September 4. Observing swine flu symptoms, a swab sample was sent to the IMP and was confirmed positive on Thursday. She is now in labour room.
