Hyderabad: Three engineering graduates were killed and another student grievously injured, when the car they were travelling in careered out of control and crashed into a roadside shop at Banjara Hills in the early hours of Monday.

Those, who died in the ghastly accident, were identified as Sai Teja (24), Naren Sai (23) and Sharathchandra Goud (23). Karthik Reddy suffered serious injuries. All of them were residents of Swaroopa Nagar in Uppal.

The Banjara Hills police said the youths were speeding in the high-end car around 4.30 am to watch the Ganesh immersion ceremony.Teja, who was driving the car, had apparently lost control of the vehicle and it rammed into the roadside shop.

He along with his friend Naren Sai, who were seated on the front seat, were killed instantly. Sarathchandra was rushed to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead. Karthi, who was seated on the rear seat, escaped with serious injuries.

The police said preliminary investigation revealed that the youths were driving the car in an inebriated state. Some liquor bottles too were found in the car. The youths completed engineering graduation and were in search of jobs.

The car was mangled beyond recognition. The youths seats on the front seat were extricated from the mangled remains of the vehicles.
