At Wahed Nagar in Chaderghat, a 17-year-old student hanged himself at his home on Monday. The police sent his body to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for autopsy and booked a case to ascertain the reasons for his death.

In a similar incident at Jeedimetla, a 20-year-old student hanged himself at his residence on Monday. Preliminary investigation revealed that Rajasekhar Reddy (20), a resident of Lal Bahadur Colony and studying in his final year of graduation, was nervous of failing in his examinations and resorted to this extreme step.

Meanwhile, a newlywed woman from Pahadishareef, who set herself ablaze at her home on November 4, died during treatment on Monday.

22-year-old Rehana Begum was married to Md Moin of Errakunta about 18 months ago. Soon after, Rehana started complaining to her parents about harassment by Moin. Unable to bear the insult, she resorted to the extreme step by setting herself ablaze. Rehana was then admitted to the Osmania General Hospital where she succumbed to the burns. The Pahadishareef police registered a case under Section 306 IPC against her husband Moin.
