Karimnagar: Suspecting his wife of infidelity, a 32-year-old person poisoned his wife and son and later he also tried to end his life. The incident took place in Chakunta village of Choppadandi mandal on Saturday night. According to police, Neelam Ramesh, a gulf returnee, mixed pesticides in the food on Saturday night.

Ramesh’s wife Anita (28) and his one-year-old son, Cherry fell unconscious after consuming the food and died. The neighbours who visited the house on Sunday morning found the mother and son dead. On Sunday morning, Ramesh fled from the house and attempted suicide by jumping in an agricultural well.

Alerted villagers rescued Ramesh from the water and shifted him to the government hospital at district headquarters, where he was undergoing treatment. His condition was said to be stable. Speaking to the media, the accused confessed that he killed his wife and son alleging that Anita was maintaining extra marital affair with another person.

Ramesh married Anita, a resident of Nemiligunta village, two years ago and they have a son. The accused, who migrated to Dubai in search of employment, returned to the village recently. Police registered a case and shifted the bodies to district headquarters hospital for post mortem.
