​Nalgonda: In a tragic incident on Bhongir outskirts in Nalgonda district, five members of a wanderer family including three children committed suicide by consuming food and drinks laced with poison. This shocking incident came to light on Saturday morning. The deceased have been identified as Ramesh (40), his mother Padma (70) and daughters Nandini (3), Kaveri (5) and Swaroopa (8).

According to Bhongir police, the wanderer family used to stay in a hut on the premises of Government Junior College in Bhongir. Ramesh used to sell hand rings and chains to eke out a livelihood. His wife passed away one year ago and since then he got addicted to liquor, which led to financial crisis.

Finding it hard to arrange two meals a day for family, he might have been forced to commit suicide along with his mother and minor daughters. Police suspect that Ramesh and his mother consumed food laced with poison after making his three daughters had same. On receiving information on Saturday morning, police rushed to the spot.

The bodies were shifted to the area hospital mortuary for post mortem. Locals said that on Friday evening, Ramesh told his neighbours that he along with his family members would go out of station and return in four days. Bhongir Circle Inspector Shankar Goud registered a case and is investigating.
