Three persons from New Delhi were arrested by the City Cyber Crime Police on charges of cheating innocent people by collecting money from them on the pretext of providing loyalty points against matured insurance policies.

​Hyderabad: Three persons from New Delhi were arrested by the City Cyber Crime Police on charges of cheating innocent people by collecting money from them on the pretext of providing loyalty points against matured insurance policies.

The accused identified as Rishab Sharma (23), Ajay Kumar (20) and Arun Chowdary (20) of New Delhi, used to call people randomly claiming that they were calling from an insurance agency and would like to help them in availing the loyalty points against insurance policies that have expired.

They lured the victims to pay huge amounts. After receiving money, the accused changed their mobile numbers and did not respond to the victims, said Detective Department DCP Avinash Mohanty.

Similarly, they cheated one M Ramesh of New Bowenpally. The victim was convinced to pay Rs 2.12 lakh believing that he would receive Rs 4.5 lakh. Ramesh deposited the money in the bank accounts of the accused in three installments, said the DCP.

“During the investigation, the team of cyber crime analysed the CDRs (Call Data Records) of mobile numbers of the accused and obtained details of beneficiary accounts, tracked the offenders in New Delhi. With strenuous efforts, they were arrested and brought to city on transit warrant. They would be taken into custody for further investigation,” said the DCP.
