Teacher suspended for harassing girls

​Visakhapatnam: District Educational Officer M Venkata Krishna Reddy suspended English teacher of Chintanippula Agraharam Zilla Parishad High School K George Sampat Kumar on charges of harassing senior girl students.
Deputy DEO K Renuka conducted an inquiry by talking to the students and the villagers into the incident and submitted a detailed report on August 18. The school has strength of 237 students and of them 123 are girl students.
Sampat Kumar mostly targeted 9th and 10th class students and particularly focused on class-10 students. This was going on for several months but one girl picked up courage and told her parents on August 6.
The parents and their relatives bashed up the teacher but kept the incident to themselves without informing the school authorities fearing villagers would not send their girl children to the school. But later the school headmaster GSN Murty came to know about the incident and held a meeting with the village elders and other teachers.
The village elders summoned Sampat Kumar’s wife and children and explained to them his distasteful activities. Later, the headmaster informed the District Educational Officer who asked Deputy DEO K Renuka to conduct an inquiry.
Sampat Kumar went on indefinite leave soon after the inquiry. The DEO mailed the suspension letter and sent a hard copy on Wednesday morning to the headmaster for immediate action.
