Kakinada: Crop loans to the tune of Rs 2,120 crore have been sanctioned for the farmers for Kharif as well as Rabi seasons this year and target has been fixed at Rs 4,765 crore this year, Minister for animal husbandry and fisheries, Pinipe Viswaroop stated here on Thursday.

He said that loans at 25 paise interest to the tune of Rs 4.69 crore have been sanctioned in the last season and crop loans to the tune of Rs 67 crore have been sanctioned for the tenant farmers during this year. He hoisted the National Flag marking 67th Independence Day celebrations at the Police Parade grounds in Kakinada on Thursday.


Speaking further, Mr Pinipe stated that input subsidy to the tune of Rs 147 crore will be credited into the accounts of 3.11 lakh farmers, who have incurred losses due to Nilam cyclone, and funds to the tune of Rs 7.13 crore have been sanctioned with 50 per cent subsidy for the farm mechanisation in East Godavari district. He made it clear that the steps have been taken to irrigate 2.05 acres under Pushkar, Venkata Nagaram, Bhupahti Palem, Musuru Milli and Suram Palem projects in the present Kharif season.


He explained that 2.92 families have been benefited through Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme in the district until now and 8,327 families have completed 100 working days. He further informed that 4.42 lakh workers received an average salary of Rs 124 per day and works to the tune of Rs 151 crore have been conducted under this scheme.


He explained that the construction of 12,000 individual toilets have been completed under Nirmal Bharat whereas the construction of 20 toilets was going on. The Minister maintained that East Godavari district stood second in the State in implementation of Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu and added that about 6,000 youth have been imparted training and 3,000 have been provided jobs under RYK this year.


He expressed happiness over the district standing first in the State by giving interest free loans for 34,086 Self-Help Groups in the district last year and added that the steps are being taken to provide loans to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore for Self-Help Groups this year. He informed that nine veterinary hospitals will be built this year. East Godavari District Collector Neetu Kumari, District SP N Shivshankar Reddy, Joint Collector R Muthyala Raju, Sub-Collector Gandham Chandrudu, Commercial Tax Deputy Commissioner Pousami Basu, APSP Commandant Rajesh Kumar and AJC D Markendeyulu were present.
