It’s audacious. It’s a cruel hoax. It’s an abject hypocrisy. The preposterous statement of Pakistan’s Prime Minister that his country is waiting for the day when Jammu and Kashmir becomes a part of Pakistan exposes the hostile neighbour’s brazen complicity in the Kashmir turmoil.
Nawaz Sharif’s day dreams are aimed at convincing his constituency at home, rather than aiming at any serious diplomatic misadventure. However, Pakistan’s description of Kashmir’s separatism as freedom struggle reveals the cross-border nature of Kashmiri militancy.
Kashmir’s accession to India is complete and irreversible. Pakistan talking about alleged human rights violation is nothing but devils quoting scriptures. Kashmir is an integral part of India. No force on earth can sever Jammu and Kashmir from India.
Pakistan is a failed and flawed state. Militarised Pakistan has landed its countrymen in abysmal impoverishment and functional anarchy. Pakistan is a victim of its own illicit deeds as terrorism and religious obscurantism are tearing apart the country‘s social fabric.
The nation is facing the looming threat of dismemberment. Pakistan's tribal areas, along the border with Afghanistan, are on the boil challenging the country’s sovereignty. Pakistan’s fragile democracy is a hostage to military adventurism and religious extremism. Ominous forces have penetrated into the Pakistan’s state apparatus.
The world could comprehend the true face of this rogue State when al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed right on the outskirts of the country’s capital, Islamabad. Pakistan is today a breeding ground of international terrorism. Not just India, even countries like Afghanistan and Russia publicly castigated Pakistan for its involvement in acts of terror.
In an unabashed manner, Pakistan treats export of terrorism as its foreign policy agenda. Its clandestine nuclear programme is posing a threat to global peace and security. The world is seriously concerned over nuclear terrorism, thanks to hawkish nuclear powers like Pakistan.
Quite unfortunately, the world powers are oblivious to the dangers emanating from Pakistan‘s soil for their own geopolitical reasons. Islamabad’s hard-heartedness on Kashmir emerges from its strategic servility to the West and servitude to homegrown fissiparous elements, rather than demonstration of its might.
The only unfinished agenda in Kashmir is that the Pak-occupied parts of Kashmir should be integrated with the Indian mainland. Pakistan’s efforts to internationalise Kashmir dispute have to be frustrated. India, undeterred by cross-border hostilities, should defeat the nefarious designs of the sinister forces in Kashmir valley challenging India’s sovereignty and integrity.
However, Indian leadership should always be conscious that the Kashmir imbroglio has no military solution. The political process has to negotiate a political solution to the Kashmir within the contours of Indian constitution and in the true spirit of Instrument of Accession.
Arms cannot win the hearts of Kashmiri people. Pakistan should not be given an opportunity to fish in the troubled snow. Talk to any Indian who is aggrieved due to historical reasons. The refrain will be: Target those who challenge the Indian nation.
