Hyderabad: The division bench comprising Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy and Justice C Kodada Ram on Friday asked the state government and NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) to submit a report on the implementation of government orders and court judgements relating to the admission process of MBBS courses.

The report should also mention how two Muslim minority medical colleges Deccan and Shadaan, in Hyderabad, have followed the orders. The report should cover details from 2009-2010 to 2013-2014. The bench was hearing a contempt case filed by a minority student’s organisation.

The petitioners alleged that despite the court’s ruling directing these two medical colleges to issue and receive application forms for MBBS courses through email, post, etc and prepare and publish a merit list and intimate the university about the admission process, the colleges didn’t follow suit.
The admission process to the MBBS courses was supposed to be verifiable and transparent. The petitioner placed evidence in the court in the form of advertisements which showed that the colleges refused to receive application forms by post.
The NTR University filed a counter affidavit confirming that the rules were not followed in 2009-2010. The bench expressed dismay at the state of affairs. The bench reminded that the health of everyone, especially the future generations, was at peril when the merit was given a go bye in the MBBS admissions. The bench wanted the government and the NTR University to file detailed reports how the rules have been followed from 2009-2010.
