State Council for Higher Education took unilateral decision without consulting State government, says Education Minister Jagadishwar Reddy
Hyderabad: Telangana State Education Minister G Jagadishwar Reddy on Tuesday said a unilateral decision was taken by the State Council for Higher Education to conduct the engineering counselling.
Speaking to reporters at Nalgonda, Jagadishwar Reddy said without prior intimation to the Telangana State government decision was taken by council. “It is the prerogative of Andhra Pradesh government on how to go about the counselling process and our government is not concerned how AP State government goes about it,” Reddy said.
The Minister stated that a writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court seeking an extension of counselling admissions to October end. He added engineering admissions would be conducted as per guidelines. “Students need not get panic about the counseling process. We will only conduct admissions for our students,” the Minister informed.
Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has clear intention of providing standard education to the students and the government would enhance the standards of engineering and professional colleges in the State, he stated.
On the fee reimbursement row FAST (Financial Assistance for Students of Telangana), the Minister added the government has clarity about it and guidelines would be out in couple of days.
