Hyderabad: The online Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) University Admission Test-2015 (GAT-2015) will be held from April 20 to May 10. Briefing newspersons about GAT-2015 at a hotel here on Tuesday, university vice-chancellor Prof. G Subrahmanyam said that the online examination would be held at 38 centres across the country, including GITAM Hyderabad campus, Saifabad, Dilshuknagar, Karimnagar, Khammam, Nizamabad and Warangal districts from April 20. The admissions would be held for 10 B Tech, 15 M Tech, B Pharm, M Pharm and architecture programmes offered by the university at its campuses at Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

The last date to apply for filled in application is March 31. Candidates who have registered can book a slot between April 9 and 15 and can download hall tickets on any day between April 9 and the date of examination from the website. The test results would be announced on May 16. The notification has been made available on the website www.gitam.edu and applications are available throughout India at selected branches of Union Bank, Indian Bank, and Karur Vysya Bank. Filled-in applications along with a DD of Rs 1,000 and Rs 600 for girls draw in favour of GITAM University, payable at Visakhapatnam on any scheduled bank to the director of admissions, GITAM University, Visakhapatnam.

Subrahmanyam said that the university has introduced a six year integrated B Tech and M Tech dual degree prorgamme. The VC specified that currently 16,500 in regular courses and 28,000 students in distance courses are currently studying in the university. Nearly 1,800 seats at Hyderabad, 2,200 at Visakhapatnam and 1,200 seats at Bengaluru campuses are up for the grab

Prof. Subrahmanyam said that a record number of 2500 students were placed last year during the campus drive. “A student was offered Rs nine lakh annual package in the placement drive. We are expecting the number of students getting placed will increase and already students in 7th semester have got placements. Nearly 60 companies are due for the placement drive at Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam campuses,” he informed.

The VC said that university had tied up with 60 other foreign and Indian universities. “Recently we tied up with University of Texas to offer a B Tech and M Tech dual programme. Presently we are working on the modalities. If everything goes well, we are planning to offer the course in nanotechnology from next academic year,” Subrahmanyam said.

“In addition to the scholarship, M Tech students with GATE score are being provided Rs 8,000 fund from TEQIP and those students who do not have GATE score are given Rs 5,000 in form teacher assistance ship. Scholarships worth Rs 75,000 for B Pharm and one lakh rupees for M Pharm students are given,” he informed.
