Hyderabad: With the Telangana government constituting its own Board of Intermediate Education and appointing its secretary and with the TS government insisting on conducting separate examinations, the AP government also appears to be mulling over the idea of holding separate exams.
Speaking to this correspondent, Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao said that the government would either go for the legal course or for separate examinations. “Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been apprised of the developments from time to time. Whether to take a legal battle or separate examinations, a decision will be taken after discussing issue with chief minister,” Rao informed.
Srinivas said that the government has put its best efforts to hold common examinations. “We have agreed to give board control to Telangana on the condition that the chairman post will be given to Telangana and vice-chairman to AP. But the Telangana government has stuck to its stand of conducting separate exams. The Governor of AP and Telangana have also given similar suggestions to their respective governments and have apprised the central government,” he said. With the Telangana government constituting its own board and members, the issue of common exams has come to a dead end, said an official of the board.
TS BIE secretary assumes charge
Meanwhile, Telangana Commissioner for Technical Education Shailaja Ramaiyer assumed charge as the secretary of Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) at BIE here on Friday. Ramiyer said that as per the schedule announced by the government earlier, the examinations will commence from March 9.
She stated that the procedure for conducting exams has already started and the work would be put on fast track. “Employees who are willing to work with the Telangana board will be absorbed and in this regard, the government has also issued a GO. We will put all our efforts to begin inter exams on time,” the secretary said.
P Madhusudhan Reddy, Chairman, Inter Vidya JAC, said that good days have come for the board with the appointment of the Shailaja Ramiyer, secretary, M Veerabhadraiah, IAS (Rtd.) as Legal Consultant and Mukthadhar as controller of the examination. The AP government is only trying to save the interest of the corporate college but not careers of the lakhs of students,” he said.
Reddy added that corporate colleges have to count their days in Telangana with the appointment of Veerabhadraiah in the Board.
