Oh my word Differ, Defer

Differ is a verb. It indicates to disagreement with someone or something; not the same; not sharing the same beliefs or opinions; be unlike, distinguishable, disagree. Difference has many meanings. The noun refers to a point or way in which people or things are dissimilar; a disagreement, quarrel or dispute. Different is an adjective (unlike), distinguishable in nature form; distinct, separate, not the same one; and differential is also an adjective.

Make a difference means having a significant effect or influence. In India there are different probing agencies at the Centre and in the states: CBI, IB, NIA, and CID. The couple is not heading for a divorce; they are patching up their differences. “Smile in the mirror. Do that every morning and you'll start to see a big difference in your life.” -Yoko Ono Defer means postpone; put off an action or event to some other time.

The verb also means to yield or make concessions. Derivatives of defer are deferred, deferring, deferment (n), deferrable (adjective), deferral (noun).The Union Cabinet has deferred its decision on combating unethical practices of doctors. The meeting was deferred because one of the directors fell ill. Deference, a noun, means: being courteous, showing regard or respect to someone or something; compliance with the advice or wishes of others.

“Most children in India are reared on the belief that a teacher’s writ is sacrosanct. And some love nothing more than to exploit this feeling of deference,” quoted a newspaper. Do people command or demand deference? The Ambani brothers may have separated because of differences but they show deference to one another. You have to trust yourself. This approach has made all the difference in my life.We all have differences with our parents or friends but we should show deference.
