The talk, organized by MEC, as part of the “Yaad Karo Kurbani” initiative, focused on the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi in the 21st century Mahindra Ecole Centrale(MEC), an Indo-French engineering college, hosted Mr. Birad Rajaram Yajnik, an eminent speaker, celebrated author and curator, on campus for a talk on Mahatma Gandhi. This talk, a part of the Leadership Series at MEC, mesmerized students and faculty alike unraveling the eminence and relevance of the Mahatma.

Mahindra Ecole Centrale firmly believes in the holistic development of the engineering students and is always on the lookout for broadening their horizons. The MEC lecture series is designed in such a fashion that the students are exposed to the thinking and philosophies of various leaders and specialists from different walks of life and learn from their experiences.

Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Sir David Payne(the Father of Internet telephony), Nobel Laureate Prof Serge Haroche(Nobel Prize in Physics 2012) are a few of the many luminaries who have held talks, seminars and lectures and interacted regularly with the students on campus at MEC.

“The Mahatma talk was held as a part of the “Yaad Karo Kurbani Initative” of the MHRD, which invited all educational institutions to host events related to the Independence of India.

MEC proudly hosted Mr. Yajnik, who is committed to making Mahatma Gandhi relevant in the 21st century. Mr. Yajnik has to his credit more than 100,000 fine print copies on 9 titles.

One of his most celebrated limited edition series was MKG – Imaging Peace, Truth and Ahimsa on Mahatma Karamchand Gandhi that has made him a sought after specialist on Mahatma Gandhi globally’’, says Prof. Ravi Bollina, Mahindra Ecole Centrale.

In his talk to the packed auditorium, Mr. Yajnik shared how learnings from the Mahatma can cause positive change in the 21st century. He spoke about how Gandhiji introduced to the world the most powerful weapons known to Mankind, namely Satyagraha, Peace, Truth and Non-Violence. He talked at length about the life and message of the Mahatma, covering the major milestones that influenced his philosophy, political awakening and his concept of Ahimsa.

He portrayed the man behind the Mahatma to provide inspiration to today’s generation. The students and faculty were enthralled by his talk and presentation and went back with a much better understanding of the Mahatma’s principles and core philosophy.

Mr. Birad Rajaram Yajnik has spoken globally on the Mahatma at various hallowed institutions like the Nehru Centre in London, the Tolstoy Farm in Johannesburg, The United Nations and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

In 2010 a special edition of the MKG book was released at the United Nations by the President to mark the International day of non-violence. He is a member of the technical committee of the Gandhi Heritage portal, currently curating the first digital interactive museum on Mahatma Gandhi and has an active blog with over 50000 followers on the Mahatma. He has been curating global and digital exhibitions on MKG and is also a TedX speaker.

Mr. Yajnik also heads the digital interactive company Visual Quest India Pvt. Ltd., a boutique design and technology company based in India that specializes in cross functional engagement across multiple stakeholders generating Brand recall, Employee motivation and appreciation, enhanced recruitment opportunities and unique Marketing & Sales initiatives for Fortune 50 and 500 companies around the world.
