Hyderabad: The Asian and Oceanian Photochemistry Association (APA) has chosen Prof. Anunay Samanta, a senior faculty member of University of Hyderabad for the prestigious APA Award this year in recognition of his seminal research contributions in photophysics/photochemistry.
This Award carries a citation and is given every alternate year to distinguished scientists working in photochemistry or related areas. The Award will be presented to Prof. Samanta in an Award Ceremony at the biennial Asian Photochemistry Conference 2018 (APC-2018) to be held at Taipei, Taiwan during December 16-20, where he will give his Award Lecture.
Prof. Samanta is with UoH since 1990. He is well known in the country and abroad for his high quality of research and for which he has been recognised through several national and international awards and honors, which include J.C.Bose National Fellowship (DST), India Citation Award (Thomson Reuters), Raman-Mizushima Lecture Award (JSPS-DST), Fellowships of all three National Science Academies and many others.
He has served in the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Physical Chemistry, an American Chemical Society journal, and is currently the Chemistry Editor of Proceedings of the Indian National Science Academy. Prof. Samanta is also the National Coordinator of the Faculty Research Promotion Schemes of UGC since 2013.
