Hyderabad: Chiguru 2018, an annual event of Youth For Seva was held at Pallavi International School, Gandipet. Chiguru is a festival to showcase the hidden talent in underprivileged children and 3200 students participated from 150 Seva Kendras in the city including schools, partner NGOs, Abhyasikas (YFS run free tuition centres in slums). 1000 volunteers from corporates & colleges were present to facilitate the event.

“Chiguru”, a Kannada word, would translate to mean “Budding” in English. Budding is a sign of growth and way too often we tend to confine the idea of growth for our children to academics. Chiguru, the annual cultural show organized by Youth For Seva, exists to broaden that definition of growth to include Music and the Arts, Cooking and Yoga, Technology and Public Speaking. There is much more that makes an individual than just grades.

The day started with the competitions like Rangoli, drawing, collage and dances where kids displayed their artistic skills. Competitions like street play, dance, talent show, were organised. Kids were having fun getting artistic by exploring their skills and the results were amazing. Breakfast, lunch and snacks were served to all the students/volunteers in the campus today.

The Chief Guest for the event Malka Komariah said that Pallavi Group of Schools and Delhi Public School, Mahendra Hills, Nacharam & Nadergul is pleased to associate with Youth For Seva as venue partner & transportation partner for the event. He encouraged the children to utilise the opportunity by showcasing their talents & excel in life. He appreciated the YFS & volunteers from corporates for conducting such event which helps kids in building confidence to face the outside world.
