Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Thursday flagged off a cycle rally from Thiruvananthapuram to Kozhikode, which was aimed at spreading awareness about noise pollution.
The rally, which is over 900 kilometres, was organised by the Indian Cycle Embassy (ICE), in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
One of the participants, Prakash, said that they will be covering all the 14 districts of Kerala during their 13-day ride.
"The Indian Cycle Embassy normally rides for social causes. So far we have done it only in Trivandrum. This is the first such initiative by the Indian Cycle Embassy in association with IMA...We will be riding for 13 days from Trivandrum to Kozhikode , around 900 kilometres," he said.
"The main aim of this rally is to create awareness about sound pollution and to promote cycle as a common mode of transport," he added.
The cycle rally seeks to alert people about the dangerous implications of constant exposure to high decibel levels in day to day life.
