Hyderabad: Thunderstorms with squall will occur at isolated places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on May15 and 16 under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over south Andaman Sea and the adjoining south-east Bay of Bengal. In a special weather warning for public services, the Met office said on Thursday that light to moderate rain would occur at a few places over all districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the next three days.

On May 17, light to moderate rain will occur in Rayalaseema. Rain or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next 48 hours. Isolated rain or thundershowers may occur in Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh on May 17 and 18. On Wednesday there was rain at a few places in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded (in cm) were: Telangana: Bheemgal 3, Manthani, Pinapaka two each. The maximum temperatures fell largely at one or two places in south coastal Andhra Pradesh and fell at one or two places in rest of Andhra Pradesh. They were largely below normal at one or two places in Rayalaseema, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, appreciably below normal at a few places in rest of Andhra Pradesh. A number of stations recorded the highest maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius in the southern region.

In Andhra Pradesh the maximum temperatures were Bapatla 35, Kakinada 37, Kalingapatnam 35, Kavali 34, Machilipatnam 36, Nandigama 39, Narsapur 35, Nellore 33, Ongole 36, Jangamaheswarapuram 39, Tuni 36, Vijayawada 39, Visakhapatnam 36, Anantapur 37, Arogyavaram 30, Kadapa 37, Kurnool 39 and Tirupati 34. In Telangana, the recordings were: Adilabad 41, Hakimpet 35, Hanmakonda 41, Hyderabad 37, Khammam 40, Mahabubnagar 39, Medak 37, Nalgonda 41, Nizamabad 41 and Ramagundam 41.
