Lucknow: There is no respite in sight from the unprecedented heat wave sweeping the state, the Met Office said on Friday.

Officials said that the heat wave will not relent for the next few days and the hot wind blowing in most parts of the state will get more intense.

The day temperatures which had ebbed a little in the past three days climbed once again on Thursday in Lucknow with the maximum temperature being recorded at 42.7 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees more than the normal.

The minimum temperature recorded on Thursday was 27 degrees Celsius, which was one degree above the normal.

The highest temperature recorded in the state on Thursday was at Allahabad where the mercury touched 45.7 degrees Celsius followed by Jhansi (45.3).

Kanpur was also quite hot at 43 degrees celsius, Aligarh (44.6) and Agra (43.2).

Power outages in most parts of the state continued unabated, with some areas getting unscheduled load shedding for 8-10 hours.
