Novotel Hyderabad Airport is increasingly becoming a weekend destination shares Executive Chef Gaurav Chakraborty, explaining the rush that one sees at the restaurants on Friday nights. And to cater to the weekend guests he has introduced Street Food Promotion. And the street food that is made a part of the dinner buffet menu is not restricted to India or a particular region. Dimsums and Tempuras from Asia, Hot Dogs, Chimichangas and Spicy Chicken Tacos from North & South America, Gougeres and Spetzle from Europe, some desi Kheema Pav, and Shawarma and Bazbusa of the Arab Land are all served the coffee shop – Square.

The best thing about street food is that it is quite simple to make and is high on the taste quotient. Sample Churros for instance; Spanish people eat them primarily for breakfast. The flour mixed with butter, milk and eggs, is piped through a star shaped nozzle, deep fried and rolled in cinnamon sugar or can be dipped in hot chocolate sauce too. The live counter at Square doles out this yummy street food from Spain, hot, and as one can keeps munching on the lightly sugared fluffy churros, they disappear one after the other without much ado

.

Then there is the Western Poutine – a Quebec dish, French Fries topped with shredded parmesan cheese and barbeque sauce and caramalised chopped onion that gives it a smoky flavour.

However, the chef has slightly tweaked the classic preparations to suit the local palate to good effect. Mexican Tacos filled with French bean paste and lettuce and quesadillas, classic

American burger, Cannelloni served with mashed potato, spring onion and a dash of cheese sauce, Khandvi and Pickled Dhokla from Namo’s land, Gujarat, amazingly fragrant Burmese Khow Suey – a noodle dish that gets its aroma and taste from the coconut milk, herbs and spices and the chef’s fusion creation – Chinese Bhel made with fried noodles on the menu are all the reasons to binge on, and if you are still hungry, there’s the expansive buffet to choose from.

The Friday dinner buffet is available at Rs 1549 plus taxes.
