It is freebie time for all political parties. The Telangana State BJP, which released its manifesto, promised free laptops for meritorious students, Rs 1 lakh cash award for girl students, separate budget for agriculture, etc. Releasing the manifesto, BJP T unit president G Kishan Reddy said that under ‘Pratibha Kamalam’ programme, his party would provide free laptops to top 25,000 students in the Engineering Common Entrance Test (CET), top 500 rank holders in Medicine and top 500 students in MBA-CET.
The top 2,000 girls from Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) and top 100 girls from MBA-CET, irrespective of their economic conditions, would be given cash award of Rs 1 lakh to promote education among girl child, the manifesto stated. Reddy said the party had tried to integrate the Telangana manifesto with its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s vision. “As part of BJP’s National Council meet, Modi spoke about creating ‘Brand India’ and he conceived five ‘Ts’ (Tradition, Technology, Tourism, Trade and Talent) towards the objective and the Telangana BJP has added transparency to them,” he said.
In recognition of those who sacrificed their lives for Telangana, Reddy said the BJP government would build a memorial for them and provide Rs 10 lakh or three acres of land to their families. The BJP government would ensure nine-hour uninterrupted quality power to farmers and provide 85 per cent subsidy for solar pump sets to both individuals and the community. Apart from renovating 3,000 tanks, the BJP would make efforts to get national status for Pranahita Chevella project, he added.
