Prasad V Potluri: When the Die is Set to be Cast, I Can’t be Out of Place, The ambition of one person to enter politics and his eye on a particular constituency had changed the political equations and caused several twists and turns.
The ambition of one person to enter politics and his eye on a particular constituency had changed the political equations and caused several twists and turns. His ambitious plan is said to be the reason for the State to see yet another ambitious political party. He is Potluri Vara Prasad (PVP) and the constituency he had set his eye on is the Vijayawada Lok Sabha.
Prasad V Potluri, as he is also known, developed political desire and had initially joined the YSR Congress. He was named for Vijayawada by the YSR Congress as early as a year and a half ago and since then, his men have been working in this constituency. However, he quit the YSR Congress a couple of months ago for reasons known to him and had reportedly tried his luck directly with the Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu but finally settled with Telugu hero Pawan Kalyan, who launched Jana Sena, with high expectations among the youth.
The ambitious PVP, to fulfill his dream of contesting the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat had unsuccessfully lobbied for it using Pawan Kalyan. When the TD chief rejected Pawan Kalyan’s request, the latter had changed his political plans of campaigning for TD along with BJP in the State and that had caused tremors for more than 24 hours in the State with the TD breaking the tie-up with the BJP. Though the tie-up continues, the tremors continue with PVP deciding to contest the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat as independent.
In a brief interaction over phone, PVP shared his ambitious plan with The Hans India on Friday. “Vijayawada is my home city and I want it to be developed as global city. I left the city 20 years ago and today when I look at it, the city remained same without any development. It pained me as the successive leaders have done nothing to develop it. The cities across the world have developed over a period of 5 to 10 years, but Vijayawada remained same as it was 20 years ago except the two widened roads and a couple of malls,” he said.
When asked about the timing he had chosen to enter politics and the difficulties he is facing now for his debut, PVP said that after bifurcation it was the right time for people like him to enter politics and be part of the planning and take initiatives to plan for the future. “The die is set to be cast now. Once it is cast, it would be the deciding factor of this State forever. I want to be there when the die is cast,” he said explaining that he wanted to be part of the planning for the State. After bifurcation, the planning for this State begins after this election and whatever is decided now would be the future of this State and the people, he said. “When the planning begins now, I can’t be out of the place as I love my mother land. My vision and my planning would help in planning for the future of the State and that had made me to think of politics right now,” he said.
A successful business holding PVP Ventures that owns Hyderabad team in Indian Badminton League and partner with Sachin Tendulkar for the Kochi team of Indian Soccer League (football), PVP wants the successful and visionary business persons to get into politics and be part of the planning for the future.
